Shopping early at the Volunteer Pre-Sale is a privilege that our volunteers have worked very hard to earn, therefore, no friends will be allowed to shop with you at the volunteer pre-sales.  SCK Volunteers will receive ONE pass to attend the Volunteer Pre-Sale.  Should you need assistance and would like to bring your spouse with you, please let us know at drop off and we will give you an additional “spouse” pass.

CONSIGNORS

SCK Consignors are automatically eligible workers (use your consignor login to sign up for shifts).

All consignors get to pre-shop the sale, but consignors who volunteer will get into the Private Pre-Sale earlier than consignors who do not volunteer.  The more shifts you volunteer, the earlier you will get in to shop.  Consignors who volunteer at two or more shifts will earn an extra 5% back on their total sales (70% instead of 65%). 

NON-CONSIGNORS

You do not need to be a consignor to participate as a volunteer at the sale.  Anyone can volunteer --Moms, Dads, Grandparents, friends – even teenagers!  We especially need male volunteers, as there can sometimes be some heavy lifting, especially during the sale set-up and tear down.  Non-consignors will need to register as a worker first and must complete your first shift before the Presale.

CHECK IN/CHECK OUT

When you arrive to do your volunteer shift, be sure to check in at the volunteer table.  There you will be asked to sign in and put on a name badge.  You will also be given instructions as to what you will be doing.  If it is your first time volunteering, we will give you a brief orientation.

JOB DUTIES

Please familiarize yourself with the descriptions for the job duties you might likely perform.  We recommend wearing tennis shoes or other comfortable shoes as you will be on your feet for several hours.  We suggest you bring a water bottle and a snacks so that you can take quick breaks.

SALE SET-UP/TEAR-DOWN: Sign up for a Setup or tear-down shift if you're willing to do some heavy lifting, carrying, building, and using power tools. Men are most appreciated on these shifts!

DROP OFFS: During this shift, you will be helping to inspect the items that are being brought in by consignors.  You will be looking to see that they are tagged properly, that clothing is in acceptable condition, and that toys and gear are functioning properly.  You will also help to arrange items on the sales floor.

GREETER:  This person will greet each person who walks into the sale.  You will be handing out shopping bags, tagging shoppers’ personal items, and inviting people to join our mailing list.  As people leave, you will also be checking their items and receipts to make sure that nothing is leaving the sale that has not yet been paid for.

CHECK-OUT:  Baggers will assist with checkout and bag up items for customers as they wait to pay.  This job requires efficiency, attention to detail, and a friendly disposition. 

SALES FLOOR:  On the sales floor you will be checking to see that items are in their proper areas by straightening racks and tables.  You will also assist shoppers with their items or help them if they need to place items on hold.  Organizational skills are a plus for this task.

SORTING:  After the final day of the sale, we will be sorting all the unsold items.  First we will pull out the items with black dots on their tags to go to donation.  After that, we will be sorting items by number to be picked up by consignors.  It is very important that items are sorted to the proper place so precision and attention- to-detail are a must for this job.

**PLEASE NOTE: Children are not allowed to accompany moms on their working shifts, with one exception -- if you are a new mom who is able to work while carrying your young infant in a sling.  Some jobs can easily be done with a baby on board and we will accommodate nursing/feeding breaks. If you are a new mom interested in volunteering, please let us know so we can assign you to one of these jobs.

VOLUNTEER POLICY

In order to achieve a high quality event, we rely on volunteer workers to show up when they are supposed to. Savvy Chic Kids Sale requires that volunteers fulfill their obligation to work the shifts they sign up for. All workers must be on time and work their entire shift (unless released early by a SCK sale owner) in order to reap the benefits.

If you must cancel a work shift or reschedule your shift, please do so as soon as possible. You can remove yourself from a work shift and/or sign up for a new shift by logging in to the volunteer registration system until it's offline on the Sunday evening before the sale.

If an emergency arises after this date and you need to cancel your commitment with us, please let us know as soon as possible. Call 909-362-4504 ASAP.

Canceling at the last-minute, leaves us short handed and unable to adequately handle traffic and sales. Workers who do not follow through with their commitment will not be allowed to volunteer at future sales, which means no shopping at future presales.  Consigning volunteers, will also have $8 per missed-hour deducted from their consignor totals.  However, if you send a replacement, your privileges will stay intact. (Extenuating circumstances may be taken into consideration by SCK Staff).

This policy has been created in order to maintain a high quality sale. We want to attract only those volunteers who are responsible and dependable. Please thoughtfully consider the commitment before you put your name down for a shift. Thanks for your consideration.
